By and large, all humans require the same basic elements to live healthy lives. Food, water, and some sort of shelter is all biologically necessary, regardless of your age and sex. But beyond that, men and women have specific needs and issues that must be dealt with on a separate basis. Men have a greater risk for certain types of cancer, like colon cancer, and they are uniquely at risk for prostate cancer. Men also have a higher tendency for heart attacks, and they have shorter life expectancy in general. Men tend to want to get different things out of their regular exercise—it is not enough to merely lose weight, men generally also want to have large, defined muscles and extremely toned bodies. As a result, men’s health and fitness concerns are different from women’s and deserve their own consideration.
These are some simple tips to follow in order to promote men’s health and fitness. First, make sure that you schedule an annual check-up. That is the best time for the doctor to catch any abnormalities—and the chances for abnormalities only increase as you get older, especially since people have the tendency to gain weight as they age. That also include a visit to the dentist. If the dentist checks and cleans your mouth every six months, it greatly reduces the chance for cavities and gum disease. Second, remember to eat right. You should burn more calories than you consume on a daily basis. Third, be sure to lead an active lifestyle.
