Fitness Ball Exercises

Trends in fitness come and go. Some really take the world by storm before disappearing in favor of the latest big deal that’s totally going to change the entire face of the fitness world. But lately, there has been an entirely new trend. And it’s actually a pretty smart one that probably isn’t in danger of disappearing any time soon. People have become increasingly more interested in core exercises—exercises that focus on the trunk and pelvis region. This sort of work out strengthens your back, tightens your abs, improves your posture, and also improves your balance since it’s the center of your gravity. One of the best ways to improve your strength is to do your core work out with a fitness ball (also known as an exercise ball or a medicine ball).

Fitness balls have been used for years by physical therapists and sports trainers. They work so well for a very simple reason. When you sit on the ball, it immediately causes your body to become unstable. Your muscles must tense in order for you to keep your balance. That is a great natural resistance, and when you add exercises on top of that—like crunches—then you get a much more intense work out. Anybody can use fitness balls, even overweight people, since there are balls that are made to support up to six hundred pounds. Fitness ball exercises are good for the following areas: weight training, abdominal training, sitting around, flexibility training, and you can play with it, too!
